The Haw River Trail
Multiple locations
Details: The Haw River Trail is part of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail and includes over 20 miles of Hiking and Haw River Paddle access with major entrances at Shallow Ford Natural Area, Great Bend Park, Stoney Creek Marina, Swepsonvville River Park, and Saxapahaw Island Park.
Guided kayak paddles are conducted regularly by Burlington Recreation and Parks as well as Haw River Canoe and Kayak.
Burlington Arboretum at Willowbrook Park

Details: The arboretum is full of a wide variety of plant collections and features a wide, paved walking path that meanders the length of this 17-acre park.
Cedarock Park

Details: 500-acre expansive nature park park in southern Alamance County featuring hiking trails, Equestrian center/trails, disc golf courses, restored historical farm, fishing, waterfall, picnic shelters, gazebos, playground, canoe/kayak rentals, and more.
Occoneechee Mountain State Natural Area

Details: Hiking trails winding through forests of mountain laurel and rhododendron.
The Riverwalk
140 E. Margaret Lane Hillsborough, NC 27278
Details: Part of the N.C. Mountains-to-Sea Trail, the Riverwalk is a paved, accessible, urban greenway that stretches about 2 miles along the Eno River between Gold Park in western Hillsborough and trails east of town. It is a popular trail for walking, jogging and cycling.
