This celebration will take place on Saturday, June 15 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Mebane Community Park.

The celebration will feature a wide variety of vendors.

We will also have various entertainment and speakers that will present throughout the event!

Backyard games will be available on site to enjoy including: Bottle Bash, Connect Four, Corn Hole, Four Person Volleyball, Giant Jenga, Kan Jam, Ladder Golf, Spike Ball, etc.

In honor of the Juneteenth federal holiday, the City of Mebane and our community will celebrate African American culture and history.

Juneteenth is the oldest known commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States.  General Gordon Granger announced that all enslaved people in Texas were free by order of the President of the United States on June 19, 1865.  The announcement came two-and-a-half years after President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation – which had become official January 1, 1863.
