The Scoop on Kiddy Town, our Area's Newest Indoor Playground

The perks it has for parents & kids...

By Sarah Williams, Publisher for Macaroni KID Burlington-Hillsborough, NC February 25, 2025

I recently toured Kiddy Town which opened in December of 2024 to see what all the space has to offer area families. One of the co-owners, Andrea, gave me a tour and shared a little bit about her vision for the space, what she already has in place, and some of her plans for the future. But, first, I wanted to share the key details for you to plan your family fun there so you had all the basics like prices, party packages, hours and more...

Key details for you to plan your family fun:

  • Cost: $12 per kid (& $9 for each additional kid/s)
    • Intended for kids 8 and younger.
    • Older siblings are welcome to come to play with their younger siblings but asked not to run around/climb on the toys they may be too big for.
    • Kids under one get in free with a paying sibling.
  • No time limit; you can stay as long as you'd like within their business hours.
    • Monday-Saturday: 9am-6pm
    • Sunday: noon-6pm
  • Memberships are available with options from one kid ($38.99/month) up to a family of 5 kids ($75.99/month).
  • Party packages are available with options from up to 12 kids ($300) up to 24 kids ($600).
  • Cleaning happens every single night and surfaces are disinfected.
  • Rules are posted when you walk in which include that supervision of you kid(s) is required and you have to take off your shoes to enter the play area. In addition, one of their rules is "healthy play" so if you are clearly sick, they'll ask you not to enter to limit the spread of sicknesses.
  • When you stop in, be sure to tell them you heard about their wonderful business from Macaroni KID!

Now that you know the basics, I hope you'll read on to hear more of Andrea's heart behind opening the space, see photos, and find out about some of the fun things they have to offer or will have in the near future!

Why they started the business:

Andrea, a former teacher, and her sister-in-law decided to start the business for a few reasons.  They saw a need for more places like this in our area where families could access a fun, safe space to take their kids to play, especially if it was too hot, cold, or rainy to play outside, without having to drive 30-40 minutes. They wanted to create a happy, welcoming place for kids to play, learn, and use their imagination as well as make new friends and memories.

They also wanted to help moms and their mental health. Having seen so many moms mention in the facebook groups that they needed to connect with other moms or wanted to help their kids connect with other similar kids, they wanted to create a space to bring moms (and any caregivers) a place to connect and build friendships. I have also noticed those social media posts and love that Kiddy Town will give people a place to build community and connect beyond online spaces.

What they offer:

Even though things are still being added to the walls, space, and calendar, they already have a lot in place. It is amazing how much they have transformed the space which used to house the Tuesday Morning store before it went out of business last year. You walk in and it is set up like a town with a variety of play areas, toys, and climbing structures throughout the space including a fire station, beauty salon, mountain rock wall, ball pit, and little houses.

Another great thing I appreciated about the space is there are a couple spaces for itty bitty kids (under 2) that are at the edge of the main room so parents can keep them safe in there while keeping an eye on their bigger kid(s) playing in the rest of the room. Andrea said they have soft surfaces, no small toys or choking hazards, and age appropriate toys for these kids. It is a good spot to keep younger siblings engaged and safe from being knocked over or run over by big kids having their own fun.

Some other great things they provide:

  • A Cafe - It has plenty of tables, chairs, and a space for the grown ups to sit and chat while keeping an eye on the kids. She also has some snacks and drinks including coffee, milk, juice and sodas along with popcorn, baked goods (in partnership with Bondis Bakery) and kid-approved classics like goldfish, pouches, and pringles.

  • A Party Room - It is huge with plenty of tables and chairs, a snow machine, disco ball/lights, a tv screen (to share photos or video), and toys in the space for kids to play with as well.
  • A very family-friendly bathroom - It is large, clean, has a changing table, and a stool at the sink so littles can easily wash their own hands without you having to lift them up.
  • An interactive educational video game - It displays across the wall and kids play by tossing a ball at the wall. It teaches numbers, spelling, sports, etc. I know my daughter would want to play this on repeat.

  • A balloon artist making creations (for free) every Saturday from 10:30-11:30am.
  • Plenty of parking.

Plans for the future:

She wants to provide other fun add ons like the balloon artist to help bring even more fun when families visit; for example she wants to do face painting, princesses (they had one for opening day), story telling, etc. In addition, there is a childrens book release event that will be happening soon and some fun for St. Patricks Day. She also wants to offer classes for kids that include focusing on things like paint, sensory play, STEM learning, etc. Andrea also said they'd like to eventually offer additional locations in our area.

You can find out more about them on their facebook page, instagram, and website. Again, if you swing by to see them, be sure to tell them you heard about their wonderful business from Macaroni KID!
